TINO has released his new project Past Due and @TheIzzyRock catches up with him and the backstory of the songs.
TINO is a product of Ohio. Born and raised in Cleveland he moved to Dayton for college and picked up the mic. TINO blends the art of dropping knowledge with modern sounds, and high energy delivery using a myriad of rhyme schemes and unique flows over production ranging from golden era boom bap to trap mixed with soul samples and electronica. TINO has been featured on hip hop mainstay DJBooth (https://djbooth.net/songs/tino-back-in-86
and https://djbooth.net/features/artists-under-1000-3 ), done interviews and/or been featured by numerous Dayton media outlets such as Dayton Daily News, Sound Valley Dayton, and WSYO 91.3 FM.
Our host Libby Ballengee had her first front page story in the Dayton Daily News. Quite the thrill for her! The funny thing was, it was all about mousetraps and ping pong balls. Not the usual ingredients for a front page story, but nonetheless, the piece received lots of comments and praise.
Her accolades were a teeny tiny fraction in comparison to the thrill that our guest today felt as a result of that story. Andy Nick from Real Art, was the true subject, and how he and his team turned a simple 30 second commercial involving mouse traps and ping pong balls into a phenomenon that’s been viewed well over 20 million times and counting.
Andy is also an avid Flyers fan, music lover, video gamer and proud Dayton we are honored to host him on the podcast. In this episode we explore what it feels like to be retweeted by J.K. Rowling, what makes Dayton special, and lots more! Enjoy!
We want to also send a big thank you and shout to everyone who has been supporting our funding campaign at Ko-Fi.com/venuschild. We are providing independent journalism and we are grateful for the support.

I’m not certain why, but here at The Gem City Podcast, sports have not been huge topic of conversation, at least on Libby’s Monday episodes. She had been plotting an interview with Sully, a University of Dayton Flyers super fan and fellow podcaster on the Blackburn Review.
Last Monday, in an ideal world, Dayton would be playing in the final of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. In one of the cruelest of the cancellations since the coronavirus shutdown started, the Flyers storied season was cut short. It has caused a great deal of disappointment for Dayton and Flyers fans everywhere. So instead of having a celebratory convo, Libby interviews Sully about his love of team, what this magical season meant, what to look forward to next season and what makes Flyer fans so special.
