Dayton, Ohio’s Neo American Pioneers started out on a long, lonesome stretch of highway somewhere west of the Mississippi. Between the big cities were little towns and open spaces, filled with a tapestry of people and ideas, all unique yet tied together by this endless network of highways and byways. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Billy Swayne set out to capture this kaleidoscope of people and places, and the feeling of finding your place among them, on 2013’s ‘Big Wide Open Blue’. What started as a recording project evolved into a live band in December 2016 when Swayne recruited bassist Ian Goudie, lead guitarist Dan Spaugy, and drummer Daniel Chord to give the recording some legs. In November 2017, the Pioneers expanded again, adding Heather Redman as a second vocalist and Paul Monnin on keys. Over the course of 2017 and 6 new songs, the Pioneers have transitioned away from the traditional singer/songwriter fare and into a full-fledged band.

Neo American Pioneers channel the spirit of a golden age of rock and roll, when the Stones and CCR ruled the airwaves, into a modern sound that is both fresh and reverent. The Pioneers cross musical genres; melding rock, country, indie, punk, and soul into a seamless, sonic package that is palatable for the masses and discerning music fans alike.  In March of 2017, Neo American Pioneers began recording their album “Beginning to Unfold” with Patrick Himes at Reel Love Recording Studio in Dayton, Ohio. On August 18, 2018 the Pioneers will host their CD and Vinyl Release Party at The Yellow Cab Tavern In Dayton!

We are very excited to have Special Guests Cricketbows and Kyleen Downes joining us to help celebrate our release.
