Enjoy a night of short films and a feature curated by Dayton comedy writers and filmmakers, Stephen and Joel Levinson!

The sons of local iconic Dayton Daily News columnist, Meredith Moss, Stephen and Joel Levinson were born and raised in Dayton, Ohio.

They grew up dreaming of becoming comedy writers and filmmakers.

Stephen currently writes for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Together, Joel and Stephen worked with all star casts of today’s most popular comics and musicians on independent projects.

Recently, the Levinson Brothers also wrote and created the album “2776”, a star-studded musical comedy epic, featuring dozens of musicians, actors and comics, including Will Forte, Aubrey Plaza, Ed Helms, Reggie Watts, Neko Case, Patton Oswalt and many, many more. Joel and Stephen are currently in pre-production for their first round of features to be filmed here in their hometown.

Here’s the rundown for the night:

7:00pm-9:00pm;

Our sponsor, Star City Glass, presents works from the Levinson Brothers archives, followed by a screening of the film that inspired them to become comedic filmmakers, the 1984 Zucher Brothers comedy, “Top Secret.”

9:30pm – 10:30pm;

Black Box Improv Theater Presents: “Brainchild”, an improv show with guests, The Levinson Brothers and past music director of Second City Chicago, Trey Stone and Black Box Improv founder, Justin Howard for a zany set of Chicago style, musical improv!

10:45pm;

Meet & Greet Mixer with the Levionson Brothers at The Barrel House. (across from Black Box Theater) There will be special offerings at The Barrel House before and after the show for those with DMAFF wristbands or proof of admission to Black Box Theater.

> Stephen currently writes for NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and lives in New York City with his wife Hannah and 2 children.

> Joel is a producer of web based commercials and comedy shorts as well as a professional contest winner which has sent him to exotic locations around the world. He returned from Los Angeles to set up the Levinson Brothers production midwest work base and lives in Yellow Springs, Ohio with his wife Randi and 2 children.

> Justin Howard, a Dayton area native, returned from Chicago eager to bring his knowledge of the art of improv to the area and started The Black Box Improv Theater in July of 2012.

Justin has performed, studied and taught improv in Chicago and New York City and performs each week at his theater. Over 150 Daytonians have already studied at the theater and many of them currently perform in weekend shows. His life outside of the box (pun intended), he lives in the Dayton area with his wife Brittany and 2 children.

> Trey Stone was music director of Second City Chicago for 15 years. He returned to the Dayton area nearly 5 years ago and has a devoted following of his popular band, “Trey Stone and the Ringers.” When he is not on the road playing music director for the Jim Belushi tour, he’s daddy to 2 neat kids and one on the way with his wife Jayne.
