Jennifer Evans and Matthew Tepper own and operate Evans Original Bakery on the corner of Troy and Warner in Greater Old North Dayton. There has been a bakery on that corner since the early 1900s and it’s a fundamental part of the close-knit international community. Jennifer grew up in the business – her parents operated it from 1969 to 2004 – but left Dayton for school and work in 1995. When the new owner closed the bakery in 2011, Jennifer and Matt decided to quit their jobs in Michigan and move back to reopen the local landmark. They renovated the building, revived her parents’ formulas, and reopened the doors in December 2012. Since then, they’ve been committed to providing quality products and friendly service to the local community and beyond. Evans Original Bakery is a full-scale retail bakery specializing in donuts and danish, bread and rolls, cakes, cookies, and desserts. They are always looking for new customers and new ideas and the Gem City Podcast is here to help!
